Edie (EE-dee) Common clue: Actress Adams Edie Adams was born as Elizabeth Edith Enke on April 16, 1927 in Kingston, PA. She acted in numerous TV shows and movies including the Ernie Kovacs Show, The Apartment, It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, and Love with the Proper Stranger. From 1960 – 1978 she was the spokeswoman for Muriel Cigars. Over the years she crooned the classic line: “Hey! Big Spender, spend a little dime with me.” Adams is the second longest spokesperson for a company to date. She married Ernie Kovacs in 1955 and they remained together until his death in 1962.
Trivia: Edie Adams patented a cigar holder-ring which she used in TV ads for Muriel cigars in the 1960s. It was designed to show women that it was "lady-like" to smoke cigars. [Source:
