Attar of Roses, an essential oil obtained by distilling rose leaves of certain species in water, of very strong odor, pleasant when diluted; is used for perfume; it used to be made in India, Persia, Syria, and the Ottoman Empire. The Rose Valley in Bulgaria (around the town of Kazanluk), is now among the major producers of attar of roses in the world. (Kazanluk was known in the past as Kezanlik)
