February 1, 2005 A 75th Anniversary “Addiction is a complex tangle of thoughts and behaviours. It affects the wellbeing not just of the sufferer but also of family and friends. And it can quickly turn a perfectly pleasant day into a dysfunctional downspiral. This is true whether the obsession is with alcohol or drugs, gambling or chocolate, sex or the internet. Or crosswords. Have you ever tried talking to a fanatic with ‘just one more to go’?” So begins an article in “The Times” of London today (article). They’re celebrating the 75th anniversary of providing crossword puzzles to their readers today. Another article celebrating the anniversary offers a crate of wine to the person, if there is one, who can solve this crossword clue: One describing a vampire crossing short stretch of water - he apologised (8). Personally, I don’t have a clue. If you think you know the answer, you have a week to reply .
