April 7, 2005 Keyhole Did you notice the picture for today’s Word of the Day?
It’s actually a satellite view of the Orly airport in France. It amazes me that the average person now has the ability to type in an address for almost any large city in the world and pull up a satellite image with this kind of clarity. How am I able to do this? Well, it all begins with Google. Google purchased the digital map-making company, Keyhole a few months ago. Now, for a subscription of $29.95, ordinary people like you and me can pretend to fly all over the world and take pictures like the one above. If you’d like, you can try it out free for seven days before you purchase. Just go to: http://www.keyhole.com/gm
