Definition: A city of Italy known for its sparkling wines.
Asti is a town of about 70,000 in the Piedmont region of northwestern Italy (see map below).
Asti is known mostly for its sweet, sparkling wine formerly called Asti Spumante. Now it is simply called Asti to avoid confusion with other wines.
